Finding Hope was born out of lived experiences in our faith community—moments of pain, honesty, and resilience that revealed just how great the need is for safe spaces around mental health.
In 2020, co-founder Danielle Lair began her own healing journey after leaving an abusive and alcoholic marriage. As she worked through her trauma, she discovered the power of sharing her story—not only for her own recovery, but to help others find courage in theirs. She also came face-to-face with how often the church contributes to the stigma of mental health.
Two years later, our community walked with a staff member through a mental health crisis. That experience opened our eyes to the realities of the mental healthcare system and the unique role faith communities can play in supporting, but not replacing, professional care.
In 2023, the suicide of a beloved community member shook us deeply. Their family’s courage to speak openly about mental health encouraged others to seek help, and our community became a safe place for honest conversations and healing.
Out of these experiences, Finding Hope was created—to bridge the gap between the mental healthcare system and those in need. Since then, we’ve connected people to licensed professionals, provided benevolent funds for treatment, and offered wellness opportunities that reduce stigma and build resilience. In 2025, we are expanding our mission with Mental Health Readiness Training, equipping faith communities to become trauma-informed places of safety, healing, and hope.
